These lip balms have quickly become my best-selling item in my Etsy shop and at craft fairs. Please choose a scent from the list below - if you don't add a note with your choice, I will choose for you :-) I apologize for the run-on description, the formatting of this site doesn't allow line spacing. My handmade grass-fed tallow lip balms have had a makeover – I've tweaked the recipe slightly to be even better, and I'm loving the difference. While the previous recipe was wonderful, this version is even creamier and smoother, hands-down the best thing I've put on my lips. • NEW - Lanolin for the most moisture-packed lip balm possible • NEW - Castor oil for extra conditioning and shine • Same amazing grass-fed tallow full of vitamins and nutrients • Same eco-friendly plastic-free paper tube and label I've been using my grass-fed tallow balm, made with our own Scottish Highland beef or sheep tallow that I render here at SFH, for several years now and love it, and have always used it on my lips, but I had never poured lip tubes because I just hate the plastic! There's more plastic than product in those little tubes, and I just couldn't justify that – but then I found paper tubes!! They are the same size as the standard plastic tubes (both the .2 oz fill and the overall tube size), and simply push up from the bottom instead of the screw mechanism. The caps don't snap on quite as tightly as the plastic ones, but they usually fit on fairly snugly, I trade them around if one is loose until I find a good fit (and a customer has helpfully pointed out that a cap from a commercial lip tube will also work well). These tubes are entirely paperboard, with a waxed interior to prevent leaking, and I use paper labels, so they are entirely recyclable or compostable. I do pay a good bit more for these than the plastic tubes, but I really believe it's worth it. These are available in a large selection of fragrances as well as unscented and even custom blending, just add a note in the optional text box. Lanolin is just amazing, I've found it to be one of the most repairing substances I've ever put on my skin. It is simply the oils from sheep wool, purified into a rich, creamy, sticky wax-like substance. It truly has an amazing ability to soften and hydrate dry skin – I've been known to use it pure, directly on my lips, in times of great need :-) If you've used my lip balms before, I think you'll also notice, and appreciate, the added benefits of lanolin in this improved recipe. And this stuff lasts - I am definitely able to go longer before re-applying. Castor oil also contributes to the creamier feel of this balm – it is a much thicker oil than most, and adds shine and gloss to lip products. It's also known for being great for our skin, encouraging collagen and elastin production and helping penetrate and heal dry or damaged skin. The rest of this lip balm is the same fantastic ingredients of grass-fed tallow, local beeswax, shea butter and olive oil. If you have an allergy or sensitivity to any of these ingredients, just contact me for a custom-made lip balm, I can substitute any of the ingredients for you. These lip balms are scented with either essential oils or flavor oils (fragrance oils specifically for safe lip use), and I've added a very small amount of all-natural sweetener to enhance the fragrance. This sweetener is simply stevia and coconut oil, and I use just enough to give the scent a well-rounded aspect, similar to using salt in food – it just seems a little flat without it, but these are not candy-sweet, like many commercial lip balms. If you prefer a lip balm without sweetener, I can do that - but be aware that it may just seem a little "off" or flat in flavor/scent. Our senses of taste and smell are so intertwined, so much of the "scent" is actually the taste (the stevia), and without it the fragrance may not really "bloom" for you - but I'm happy to make that if you prefer. It is 50% grassfed tallow hand-rendered from our Scottish Highland cattle, as well as my regular balm ingredients - olive and almond oils, shea and cocoa butters, and some beeswax to make it really last on your skin, even through moderate washing. I really love this balm for hands, feet, and baby bottoms, or anywhere else you want serious moisturizing - a little bit goes a long way, and it really lasts. This is the simplest solid lotion I make, and in my opinion, the best. It is simply 90% our own grassfed Scottish Highland tallow, and 10% liquid shea oil. This is amazing stuff - much less greasy/oily-feeling than my regular Body Balm (which I still love!), it soaks right in and really moisturizes. Tallow is great for skin, and is local, sustainable, and much more eco-friendly and ethical than many oils that contribute to deforestation, labor exploitation, etc. We render this ourselves, from our Highland steers - we try to respect the sacrifice our beautiful heritage cattle have made to feed and aid us, and use all that we can from the animals. (We also tan the hides and clean the skulls and horns as striking wall decorations). I only use natural essential oils in these salves, an artificial chemical fragrance seems out of place in a minimalist, all-natural salve! Rather than maintaining a stock of these in multiple fragrances, I will make this to order, so choose the essential oil blend you would like from the list and include a note to the grower at checkout with your selection. If you’re not sure or aren’t picky, just tell me if it’s for a male or female recipient, I’ll choose something appropriate. Meet my friend, Coax Me Gently. She is very gentle with her activated charcoal but she will also soothe the pain away that you are causing me. She will also make sure I'm safe from any other invaders during your visit?" Dosage: Cover the intruder to gently coax its departure from me. Since I can stain, cover me loosely with a bandage of choice. Area can be washed as normal when the time comes, just reapply if the intruder is still visiting.

Bergamot essential oil is a dark, spicy citrus smell, like orange peel rather than orange juice, and it pairs beautifully with the smoky dark scent of cedarwood essential oil to make a great fragrance for men, as well as women. Why use a shampoo bar? Partly to avoid all those disturbing ingredients in commercial shampoo! Then wouldn’t any nice, handmade bar soap work? Well, I’ve tried it, with my own goat milk soap, and it was not what I wanted! Hair, and even more importantly our scalp, needs ultra-moisturizing treatment, and this bar is specially made to do that. Hair gets oily because we wash off all our natural oils, prompting the scalp to make more. But that makes our hair oily, so we wash it again, further stripping our scalp of natural protective oils... And because we’re stripping everything off our hair - and scalp - we need a conditioner to make it soft and smooth and healthy (everything the natural oils were trying to do, incidentally). Then, since we used a heavy conditioner, our hair is weighed-down and needs washing... Or, we can both clean and condition with a natural soap that gets out dirt and oils but doesn’t strip our hair, and simultaneously conditions it - and our scalp - with the naturally-occurring glycerin, as well as the goat milk and vitamin-rich egg yolks. When using as shampoo, follow with an apple cider vinegar rinse (I use a small spritzer bottle) if you have harder water, and if you have soft water you probably don’t need anything, and there's no need for conditioner, although I sometimes use a teeny bit of diluted commercial organic conditioner as a leave-in detangler for my kids hair. Since I started making and using bar shampoo 10 years ago, this is all I use and I love it! Unscented to be gentle on even the most sensitive skin. Molded square bars are 4 oz, complete ingredients on label, hand-wrapped in brown paper.

This is my exact same shampoo bar recipe, but absolutely fragrance-free. This bar is molded in the shape of a branching Tree of Life. NOTE: This shampoo bar uses local non-GMO lard from Pig Mountain farm, and I have just started making it with local grass-fed beef tallow from Dayspring Farm as well - the tallow results in a slightly harder bar that will last longer in your shower! This 4 oz rectangle bar has a dragonfly molded on the front, either plain cream-colored soap, or I can paint it green with natural mica color, add a note in a "Note to Grower" at checkout, if you would like it painted. The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! I hand-make all my soap in small batches, 6 to 36 bars at a time. If you have used a good handmade soap before, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying! When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin. A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin! This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package. I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my tallow body balm on my hands occasionally, and my lip balm or lip blush all year-round!

This handmade local lard & goat milk bar has crushed mint leaves in the soap, along with hand-rendered lard from pastured, non-GMO-fed pigs raised right here in either Altamont or Tracy City, rendered by me here at SFH. The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! I love this soap, in fact I used to make this as a regular, non-goat milk soap, but then made a batch for a custom order and loved it so much I decided to convert my lard soaps to goat milk-lard soaps. This soap is available in a variety of options - a plain square bar or 3 different molded designs of a dragonfly. A unique, striking blend of herbal lavender and earthy patchouli essential oils, with a touch of the unmistakable licorice-scent of anise oil - this is one of my favorites, and a frequent comment upon smelling this is “Oooh, I never liked patchouli before, but this! I love this!” This scent is great for men or women, it’s a little spicy, a little dark, and a little sweet. This recipe is made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from Pig Mountain farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it!
