Deodorant - Clay, Rosemary CitrusGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $10.00 ( 3.3 oz tube )Available (Exact): 2
A bright fresh blend of rosemary, grapefruit, orange & lime essential oils.
These paperboard tubes actually hold noticeably more than the standard tubes (3.3 oz vs. 2.5), and look smaller to boot with a more compact shape. I love that these are completely recyclable or compostable, including the paper label I apply. These tubes simply push up from the bottom – it may take a bit of effort to get the contents sliding, but holding it for a minute first to warm it can help.
My recipe is based on much research, and then trial-and-error tweaking, resulting in a formula that contains: Shea butter, beeswax, almond, castor & coconut oils, cocoa butter, arrowroot powder, kaolin & bentonite clays, and essential oils for both fragrance and, more importantly, anti-bacterial/anti-microbial power. This formula is the perfect balance of firmness (beeswax), meltable/glide-on-ness (oils), moisturizing (butters) and function (arrowroot & clay powders) – and there are no harmful ingredients - technically, you could ingest it and it wouldn't do any harm! I do not use any baking soda - my research found that many people are allergic to/irritated by the soda in natural deodorants, resulting in rashes. It appears that often users develop a sensitivity to the baking soda with continued use, so I have avoided it in all my deodorants, and use arrowroot starch instead.

Deodorant - Clay, Spring Rain EO BlendGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $10.00 ( 3.3 oz tube )Available (Exact): 5
Formulated as a men's scent (but a lot of women also really like this one) it makes me think "aftershave - but better". A blend of smoky Amyris essential oil with lavender and cedarwood oils.

Dwarf Crested Iris Plant, BlueGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( gallon pot )Available (Estimated): 0
The colorful blooms and easy culture of dwarf crested iris make it a valuable addition to the shady native woodland garden. In mid-spring, this attractive perennial groundcover is a mass of blue blooms that reach 4-6” in height. Its 5-6” sword-like leaves arise from small rhizomes, that quickly spread, to form impressive colonies with a unique textural quality. Iris cristata does well in average, well-drained woodland soils in shade to partial shade and, once established, is dependably drought-tolerant. It complements other woodland plants such as Phlox divaricata, Uvularia sessilifolia, Geranium maculatum, Hydrastis canadensis, and Trillium luteum.
The iris was said to have first been adopted as an emblem in the 6th century by King Clovis of the Franks.
