Dogwood Acres Farm

This grower has a photo album.

We are a large family of 8 and we have been providing meat, veggies, and milk before we knew homesteading was trending. Just a way of life so yeah you could call us homesteaders. We birthed several of our babies at home and we make our own cheese. While we haven’t gone through the red-tape of Big Brother certifications we are chemical free and comfortable with the foods our children are consuming. We raise organic grass-fed beef with no hormones. I have been raising beef since the 80s. Currently we are rendering our own tallow. Google that! Something tells me we will be making more soap soon. We also have laying hens as well as meat birds. This enables us to feed ourselves from the freezer instead of running to the store. #thanksalotpandemic. Might need a 5th freezer. Our children went from momma’s milk to Old Bess’ milk, who we have now retired. This season our beloved Jersey cow Matilda provides us with rich cream that rises to the top. If the cream isn’t rising to the top of my coffee cup, it goes to my grandmother’s butter churn, who also had dairy cattle in her days. My wife also loves to use her grandmother’s butter mold. There is something satisfying about bringing back our ancestral roots for our children to experience. Who knew you could clabber milk and get so many consumables out of it. Now for lunch we go to our large greenhouse to make our salads. My salad bowl contains our microgreens, tomatoes, Sooyow Nishiki, Crystal Apple, & Lemon cucumbers, lettuces, and peppers. Mulato bell pepper or Midnight? No wait it was Lilac. To top it off, good Ole Matilda’s fresh fetta! Not sure of how many pepper and tomato varieties we have between the stealthy rabbit and chicken ninjas. They really like the Super Sweet Tommies! The farmyards of Dogwood Acres are alive with FeeFee our hog, chicks, horses, cattle, and Pups. Been Raisin AKC Labs for years now. We release several litters to new loving homes every year. Well that’s not all folks but it is bye for now. These are the bits and bobs of our family. A special thanks to MTLG network. From our gardens to your table. Be Well!

Sincerely,
Dogwood Acres Farm
