This 4 oz rectangle bar has a dragonfly molded on the front, either plain cream-colored soap, or I can paint it green with natural mica color, add a note in a "Note to Grower" at checkout, if you would like it painted. The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! I hand-make all my soap in small batches, 6 to 36 bars at a time. If you have used a good handmade soap before, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying! When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin. A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin! This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package. I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my tallow body balm on my hands occasionally, and my lip balm or lip blush all year-round!

This handmade local lard & goat milk bar has crushed mint leaves in the soap, along with hand-rendered lard from pastured, non-GMO-fed pigs raised right here in either Altamont or Tracy City, rendered by me here at SFH. The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! (Check out my FAQ section at the bottom of the page for why there is lye in soap). I love this soap, in fact I used to make this as a regular, non-goat milk soap, but then made a batch for a custom order and loved it so much I decided to convert my lard soaps to goat milk-lard soaps. It is really moisturizing, cleans well with no residue, and has a great lather! I also add a little of my homegrown mint to this soap for a bit of exfoliation. This soap is available in a variety of options - a plain square bar or 3 different molded designs of a dragonfly. The dragonfly is available in either the unadorned, mint-flecked version or with mica-based color accents of green dragonfly and brown cattail, depending on the design (see photos and other listings for the different designs). This recipe uses milk from my goats Sophia and Snowpea, as well as olive and coconut oils, almond, castor, and avocado oils and shea butter.

This adorable bar of a goat kid playing in a meadow has a citrus and herbal scent, with my own blend of ginger, lime and lavender essential oils. Goat milk is renowned for the luxurious qualities it gives soap, particularly gentle exfoliating and excellent moisturizing. I hand-milk my goats Sophia, Snowpea, and Elvira, and use the rich milk as well as olive and coconut oils, almond, castor, and avocado oils and shea butter to make this wonderful soap. I don't use Palm oil as many soapmakers do - while it itself is a useful oil, I can't condone the harmful cultivation practices used to produce it, and find I don't need it - this soap is wonderful without it!  It is so moisturizing and good for your skin, with extra vitamins and nutrients from the goat milk, as well as the luxurious oils I use. If you have used goat milk soap before, or any good handmade soap, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying!
