NEWS AND NOTES

Delicious Nutritious Bread is still on vacation this week.

Yes, you certainly can eat healthy meals in the winter! This is the place to find wonderful winter vegetables, alfalfa sprouts, delicious pork and beef cuts, dried herbs, tempting baked goods, rich creamline milk, organic free-range eggs, raw local honey, grape jelly, and strawberry jam. And some of our farmers are already preparing for the spring production season. KIC Produce sends along a message to customers:

We have lots of seedlings started including 3 heirlooms of interest: Australian Brown Onions, African Violet Onions, and a West Virginia Tomato we hope to have ready at the end of MAY! Just 2 weeks left (but plenty of spots still available) before our early season discount ends on Spring and Summer seasonal CSA memberships. These seasonal options are a great way to negotiate the more expensive full season CSA and it’s perfect for someone wanting to try a CSA out for the first time.

White City Produce & Greenhouses sends this message:

I have added our 2016 CSA to the market. I am also running a Feb. promotion. Order by Feb. 29th and receive $25.00 off the share price. That’s getting 1 week of fresh produce Free. I already adjusted the price to reflect the discount.

Paccman Ranch has added three cuts of succulent beef to the market.

Solace Farm has added carrots and sweet potatoes.

It’s great to be able to get locally grown foods in the winter. But our farmers’ market is not just about eating healthy. Please take note of some of the other types of products on this market, all locally produced. We have a great selection of hand crafted farm products, candles, essential oils, bath & beauty products, baled hay, and houseplants.

Q: “What is Customer Supported Agriculture (CSA)?”

A: A CSA program is a great way to connect with your local farmer and insure that you receive choice, freshly harvested produce each week. A typical share will provide you with a wide variety of produce at the peak of harvest.
