NEWS AND NOTES
The summer vegetables are plentiful at this time of year, as well as locally sourced milk and eggs. There are also a lot of great perennial plants and quite a few houseplants and hanging baskets. Check out the herbs, both fresh-cut and dried, as well as the herb plants. Be sure to get your share of local beef and pork cuts!
This message comes from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:
Thankfully the weather will be a bit cooler this coming week, and along with some much-needed rain, will make very good planting conditions. Our herb and perennial plants are looking very good, and would really help to dress up your garden before your July 4th celebrations. Especially nice right now are rosemary, several varieties of lavender, and all the thymes, mints, and basils. Foliage of artemisia, santolina, and euonymous; and blooms of several asters, balloon flower, coneflowers, late daylilies, and gauras will brighten your garden. We still have several very nice hanging baskets for your porch or patio, as well as ferns for the shady areas. We still have a very few tomato plants for a late garden. How about a very nice basket of potted herbs as a hostess gift for a July 4th gathering?
(L to R) Lotion Bar and Dried Spearmint from Solace Farm, Pink Soldacki Tomatoes from Erdmann Farm, Sweet (Green) Basil from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, Ham Slice from Weaver Farms.

NEWS AND NOTES
Welcome this week to a new grower, Erdmann Farms. John and Tish are the operators of a vegetable and flower farm which emphasizes organic methods and sells to the local market. Located in Christiana, Tennessee, this 87 acre farm is the site of the homeplace built by Tish’s great-great-great grandfather in 1830. The farm has seen the cycle of industrialization to the modern era and now returns back to some of the basic organic practices of crop production. We are thankful for the tractor and a few of the luxuries that come with the 21st century.
Also welcome back to an old friend, Triple B Farms from Manchester. Natasha has listed some fresh herbs and several flavors of teas.
White City Produce & Greenhouses has added tomatoes and two types of squash.
(L to R) Dark Green Zucchini from White City Produce & Greenhouses; Bibb Lettuce from Frontier Family Farms; Casey Family Farm Creamline Milk; Bright Pink Coneflower and Large Pink Daylily with Purple Throat Markings from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse.

Time to Order Local Farm Products!
Good morning!
The Manchester Locally Grown Online Farmers’ Market is now open for ordering. However, I live only a few miles from the Bonnaroo music festival, and I’m experiencing serious internet lag because of all the cell phone usage at Bonnaroo. I will post the new market annoucement sometime later today, when the internet is (hopefully) a bit more reliable than it is right now. Thanks for your patience. Meanwhile, feel free to look over the offerings on the market and to place your order for Thursday delivery.
Blessings,
Linda
