Tzatziki sauce is a Greek sauce made with a little something from a variety of our growers: fresh homemade raw milk Greek yogurt, dried dill from Cheryl’s Neighborhood Garden, locally sourced cucumber and garlic, lemon juice, quality olive oil, and salt. I put this sauce over lamb and rice Mediterranean bowl. You could use it in place if tartar sauce on fish, it makes a great spread for sandwiches, can be used as a dip for pretzels alongside hummus… It’s very good for you with the health benefits of the Greek yogurt and garlic. A must have for any sauce lover. Keep refrigerated, stir before using and use within a week.

Cosmos Seeds: I have a small zip lock bag half filled with Cosmo seeds that I grew in the garden last year 2023. Mexican Sunflowers: If planting these seeds for your own flowers; after the last frost, strew them in a cleared area of dirt; tamp or press them into the dirt, cover them with just a lite sprinkling of soil. approx. 1/8th inch. I have had an abundance of the sunflowers in my garden for late summer. I saved the pods and let them air dry, then pulled out the seeds. The Mexican Sunflowers are an annual flower. They will be packaged in a small zip lock bag with a label on them. I plant them in potting soil in March or April and let the seeds sprout. I use the plastic containers that you buy cherry tomato's in or strawberries. I call them my mini-greenhouse, being kept warm and the soil moist. When the sprouts have a few true leaves, they should have roots. Then I transplant them into the garden when the weather has warmed to above 60-70 degrees. The plants grow to 5 or 6 feet. Hair, and even more importantly our scalp, needs ultra-moisturizing treatment, and this bar is specially made to do that. Hair gets oily because we wash off all our natural oils, prompting the scalp to make more. But that makes our hair oily, so we wash it again, further stripping our scalp of natural protective oils... And because we’re stripping everything off our hair - and scalp - we need a conditioner to make it soft and smooth and healthy (everything the natural oils were trying to do, incidentally). Then, since we used a heavy conditioner, our hair is weighed-down and needs washing... Shasta Daisies are all-time favorites for the perennial border. The cheery flowers begin to appear in late spring and continue on for several months if faithfully deadheaded. Shastas mix so effortlessly with other perennials that no garden should be without them! This is a plant that is easily grown in average, well-drained soils in full sun. It's a good cut flower, attracts butterflies, is suitable for dried flowers, and serves as a butterfly nectar sources. In spring, remove all dead foliage; and cut back to basal foliage in fall. Cuttings can be done in summer; and division can be done in the spring and is recommended every 2-3 years. Fertilize with Holly-tone or a water soluble fertilizer as recommended.

This azalea has soft pink flowers with deeper rose-pink throat markings. It is easy to grow in light to medium shade, and is cold-hardy and weather resistant. Its growth is vigorous but disciplined, and it will reliably cover itself with color in early spring.

The plant I'm selling for the 2024 season is much larger than this picture indicates, in a 3 gallon pot rather than the pictured 1 gallon. This azalea has large, luminous pink blooms, accented beautifully by the rich dark green foliage. It is easy to grow in light to medium shade, and is cold-hardy and weather resistant. Its growth is vigorous but disciplined, and it will reliably cover itself with color in spring, one of the later azaleas to bloom.

This handmade local lard & goat milk bar has crushed mint leaves in the soap, along with hand-rendered lard from pastured, non-GMO-fed pigs raised right here in either Altamont or Tracy City, rendered by me here at SFH. The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! I love this soap, in fact I used to make this as a regular, non-goat milk soap, but then made a batch for a custom order and loved it so much I decided to convert my lard soaps to goat milk-lard soaps. I don't use Palm oil as many soapmakers do - while it itself is a useful oil, I can't condone the harmful cultivation practices used to produce it, and find I don't need it - this soap is wonderful without it!  It is so moisturizing and good for your skin, with extra vitamins and nutrients from the goat milk, as well as the luxurious oils I use. If you have used goat milk soap before, or any good handmade soap, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying! This is a mix of our own garlic powder, “onion” powder (Elephant garlic powder, very sweet and mild), chili and Serrano pepper powders, basil, thyme, and oregano. Also includes purchased sea salt, smoked paprika, and black pepper. This spice mix is the classic Cajun seasoning, and the only difference between this and chili seasoning is that chili mix has cumin. Rather than blending both, I’m just offering this version and you can add cumin to taste for making chili. Also, this spice blend plus a touch of your preferred sweetener is a great mesquite-type BBQ spice. I used it recently on roasted chickpeas and it would also be fantastic on chicken, lamb, beef or most any meat, potato or sweet potato wedges, and any number of other dishes. Packaged as 1 oz in a snack-size ziploc bag.

Fresh, made-to-order suet cakes smell so delicious, my husband can just barely stop himself from sampling them! They are equally irresistible as they are nutritious. Full of fat, they provide a large source of energy for our backyard birds during the cold months. Each cake is 11oz and comes in a closable deli container that is stackable and freezable. This scrub is ideal for kitchen and bathroom sinks, counters, tubs, etc. It is simply Solace Farm soap, pumice powder, bentonite clay, washing soda, and essential oil or fragrance oil. I love this stuff! I had been using Mrs. Meyers surface scrub, and discovered this recipe - and it's at least as good! It takes stains and dark scratches right out of my cast-iron kitchen sink, and scrubs the hard water/iron stains out of my tub. Virtually nothing else short of nasty chemicals has done that! And it smells great the whole time it's cleaning :) This is packaged in fully compostable sturdy paperboard tubes with a shaker lid. Black China is a great base for blending with herbal teas, and for iced teas (it doesn’t cloud when chilled) and mixes well with cream and sugar. Steep for 3-5 minutes depending on desired strength. Add honey or your choice of sweetener, or none at all. Make a quart or more of tea and drink throughout the day or over several days. Drink hot, at room temperature, or iced. This tea blend is entirely local, made from our own fig leaves, which taste like green tea but are caffeine-free, and wild crafted sumac berries, which add a lemony zing. I love this tea, it has a light, crisp taste that is really enhanced with a touch of honey. It makes a great iced tea as well. Fig leaf tea is reported to be good for diabetics as well, drinking 4 cups a day is said to help regulate sugars. If you're interested in testing this application, contact me for a bulk price - I'm interested in a non-clinical trial :). Use 1/2 cup of tea leaves to 4 cups boiling water (I prefer using a French press), or 2 Tablespoons to a cup - steep as long as you'd like as there is no bitterness like with "real" tea. 2 oz will make 3-3.5 quarts of tea.

A few of the flowers are painted with a color of pink, marigold, or coral. They measure 6 inches tall x 5.5 inches wide. The cotton canvas material has been tea-dyed before the bags were sewn and stamped. A ribbon draw string is added to pull the bag closed, then tied to keep any tea leaves from falling out into the hot water as the tea infuses. The best teas are made from steaming hot water. Turn the burner off just before the boiling point. Add tea leaves to the hot water and cover with a lid. Let the tea leaves steep 10-15 minutes or until the water is colored deeply. Pour into a pitcher or tempered glass jar. Add desired sweetener of choice, honey, stevia, or raw cane sugar. If tea is too strong, add 1/2 cup water at a time until desired taste is achieved. Steep overnight for strongest (medicinal) infusion. For years gardeners wanted a large, beefsteak-type tomato that was delicious, early to bear, and highly disease resistant. Finally in 1994 those wishes came true with Big Beef. The large fruit has old-time tomato flavor and the vines are resistant to many of the problems that can discourage gardeners. The fruit is borne on vigorous, indeterminate vines from summer until frost. Compared to other beefsteak types, Big Beef is early and will set fruit reliably even in cool, wet weather. We harvest dozens of tomatoes from each plant in our Alabama test garden, where the harvest season lasts two full months and the growing conditions are very good. It grows well throughout the country, earning it an All America Selections designation in 1994; it has since grown to be a national favorite. Vines grow long, so give the plant the support of a tall cage or stake.
