Happy Sunday!

Last weekend it was snowy… this weekend it’s spring. That’s Tennessee weather for you! Don’t worry… we will have a blizzard in March for sure. Meanwhile, the market is open this morning as usual, and will remain open for your orders till Tuesday evening at 10 pm, so come see what we have to offer this week. NEWS AND NOTES

Delicious Nutritious Bread is still on vacation this week.

Yes, you certainly can eat healthy meals in the winter! This is the place to find wonderful winter vegetables, alfalfa sprouts, delicious pork and beef cuts, dried herbs, tempting baked goods, rich creamline milk, organic free-range eggs, raw local honey, grape jelly, and strawberry jam.

It’s great to be able to get locally grown foods in the winter. But our farmers’ market is not just about eating healthy. Please take note of some of the other types of products on this market, all locally produced. We have a great selection of hand crafted farm products, candles, essential oils, bath & beauty products, baled hay, and houseplants.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has added a Valentine’s Day Herb Basket and a few other houseplants to the market. Their message:

Are you looking for an unusual Valentine’s Day gift, one that is calorie-free and smells delicious enough to eat? Give a beautiful basket of herb plants from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse. These plants, each in its own 3 inch diameter pot, can be kept on a sunny windowsill and clipped throughout the winter to add flavor to your Valentine’s cooking. Set the herb plants into the garden in spring, where they will thrive and are winter-hardy. Put together your own selection of plants from the listing on this week’s market. The baskets will also be available after Valentine’s Day, with an Easter or spring theme.

Stop by Square Books soon and see our MLG Table, with lots of non-perishable farm products for sale. Pick up some honey, jam or jelly, hand lotion, herbal tea, or a basket of herb plants to enjoy this winter.

(L to R) Ground Beef from Paccman Ranch, Open Range Eggs from Wayne Diller, Valentine’s Day Herb Basket from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, 100% Pure Honey from Steve’s Bees, Grape Jelly individually or by the case from Weaver Farms.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Although the Saturday markets are closed for the season, wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs.
