NEWS AND NOTES

First, please note that we will have pickup at our NEW LOCATION this week! We will be at Manchester Farm Center, 251 Interstate Drive, Manchester. Look for us under the big tents to the left of the store. We really appreciate Dorothy & Larry Scott allowing us to hold our expanding market next to their store. If you need directions, please call Linda at (931) 273-9708.

Second, please let me give my thanks to Michael Raines of Frontier Family Farm for offering to assist in the weekly management of our growing market. Michael brings many years’ experience as a farmer, and in management and participation in several local farmers’ markets, both virtual and booth markets.

Welcome to Grown By Grace Nursery & Farm from Gruetli-Laager. This week John & Tricia have added several flavors of fruit jams, including some interesting mixes, as well as some frozen berries.

Wayne Diller has added his delicious freshly-harvested fall popcorn.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has some new fall items: four colors of Ornamental Kale, which will be a decorative and unusual addition to your fall garden or border. The “Basket of Fall Plants” and the “Fall Planter,” both for indoor use, also feature the Ornamental Kale.

White City Produce & Greenhouses vegetables will be back on the market this week. As we transition to fall produce, some of Tami’s old “regulars” have been replaced by broccoli, cabbage, arugula, and sweet potatoes.

Remember that we also have delicious pork and chicken cuts, organic free-range chicken and duck eggs, jams and jellies, live plants for your perennial border, porch, or patio. Please take note of our great selection of hand crafted farm products, candles, essential oils, and bath & beauty products. Stop by Square Books soon and see our market table, with lots of non-perishable farm products for sale. Pick up some jam or jelly, hand lotion or soap, herbal tea, a candle, or a basket of herb plants to enjoy or to give as a gift.

(L to R) Broccoli and Cabbage from White City Produce & Greenhouses, ‘Nagoya White’ Ornamental Kale from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, Frozen Prime Raspberries and Black-and-Blue Jam from Grown By Grace Nursery & Farm.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week.
