——————————————————————————————————————————————————
NEWS AND NOTES

We are all very thankful that all of our Tullahoma friends and family were relatively unharmed by the tornado which tore through the town on Tuesday of this past week. Thank You, Lord, for preserving all lives and allowing relatively minor structural damage in most cases.

On December 15, Manchester Locally Grown will conduct a “Jam and Jelly Tasting Event”. Taste an assortment of jams and jellies made by several local farmers. You will want to invite your family and friends to visit and experience our market on December 15. Put it on your calendar now!

Don’t forget to order your Christmas Kissing Balls and Centerpieces from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse. These items will be available right up till Christmas, but you will enjoy them longer if you order soon. Kissing Balls displayed outside will last for a full month. This is the first year I’ve done Centerpieces, so I don’t have experience with how long they will stay fresh. But since they are in water, they should last several weeks on display in the home.

Flying S Farms has lots of holiday jams this week. Catherine has the last of the cabbage on the market, but still has turnip greens and onions. Our sourdough breads are a soft texture and hold together well for sandwiches. Friendship breads make wonderful hostess gifts or sliced for buffet tables. I’ll be offering stacked cakes next week frosted and naked!

Amy of Solace Farm writes: “I’ve got lots of grassfed Scottish Highland beef :). And duck eggs! This weather is keeping the ducks laying much better than usual, and we’re swimming in eggs right now.”

Don’t forget to check what’s included this week in the Produce Boxes from Frontier Family Farm. The contents do vary from week to week, so be sure to fill your frig with all the yummy veggies (and occasionally other items) from a produce box.

Andra from Sow’s Ear Piggery writes: “Unfortunately, I have to put my pork products in vacation mode this week. My grandmother passed, and I will be traveling on Thursday to the funeral.” Andra expects to return next week with a few more products.

Vegetables from White City Produce & Greenhouses are available this week. Tami has added Green Tomatoes and Green Cabbage, as well as two types of Cider and two of Grape Jelly.

On Thursday, Weaver Farms and Frontier Family Farms will set up tables at market time (weather permitting). You will be able to see some of the goodies that you’ve been reading about on the market news! When you come to pick up your order, bring a friend and plan to hang out for a few minutes and chat with Ray & Elaine, Michael, and Linda.

We will be glad to deliver your order to you, at home or a location of your choice, on Friday afternoons for a small fee. Order delivery just like any other product.

(L to R) Christmas Centerpiece from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, Cactus Jelly & Double Chocolate Friendship Bread from Flying S Farms, Duck Eggs from Solace Farm, Green Tomatoes from White City Produce & Greenhouses.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,
Linda
