Time to Order Fresh Local Farm Products!

Manchester Locally Grown market

The farmers and market managers would really appreciate your efforts to help spread the word about our fantastic market. What a great local resource for fresh, local farm products. Please pick up a few business cards to hand out to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Advertising is very expensive, and we want to use our slim market funds in a responsible manner.

Good morning!

Did you know that by ordering on the locallygrown market, you are virtually assured of receiving the “cream of the crop” from each farmer? You will receive the best products picked and made with pride especially for YOU! You can’t get any fresher and higher quality than that! Thank you for supporting your local farmers and small businessmen and women.

The market is open as usual, and will remain open for your orders till Tuesday at 10 pm.

Please be sure to read the section of the page entitled “Important Ordering and Pickup Information.”

Farm News of the Week

Aha! Rabbits was founded by Mark and Kimberly Ferguson in 2014 in Rockvale, TN. We raise our rabbits in cages up off the ground, and produce between 100 and 150 fryer rabbits per month. We feed Tucker Milling pellets, which provides all the nutrition they need. We use no antibiotics or medications. We keep their cages clean and have a manure management program that ensures the air they breathe is fresh and free of ammonia. We utilize large fans to keep them cool.

Because rabbits breed and grow so quickly, one doe can produce 320 pounds of meat per year. It often only takes 3 months from birth to butcher.

We have found several ways to further process the manure, as well as to sell it as compost. Red Wiggler Worms and Black Soldier Flies help break it down as well.

100% of domestic raised rabbits are white meat! No more fighting over who gets the ‘breast!

Rabbit meat is not only lean and nutritious, but it’s also tasty. Some people liken it to chicken, others to veal.

Rabbits will produce 6 pounds of meat on the same feed and water as a cow will produce 1 pound of meat.

Amy from Solace Farm sends the following message:
Okay, I’ve done some work on my pages, there’s a few new items as well as some more pics where there weren’t any…

I have added several new soaps, including an Orange Creamsicle-scented version of the Classic Lard and Coconut, and some great molded goat milk bars. I’ve also added a smaller size of all-natural sheep wool pillow, a great size for a child or travel pillow.

Our Chinese Red Noodle yard-long beans have started coming in, so look for those! These are a beautiful burgundy that doesn’t fade with cooking like most purple beans. The taste is not quite the same as regular green beans, they are also called asparagus beans.

We are currently planting for fall, so keep watching for the new crop of carrots, beets, and a variety of greens over the next few months!

Flying S Farms in Woodbury has added ‘Jade’ Stringless Beans, and Erdmann Farm has added “Yaya” Carrots.
