Time to Order Fresh Local Farm Products!

Manchester Locally Grown market

The farmers and market managers would really appreciate your efforts to help spread the word about our fantastic market. What a great local resource for fresh, local farm products. Please pick up a few business cards to hand out to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Advertising is very expensive, and we want to use our slim market funds in a responsible manner.

Good morning!

Did you know that by ordering on the locallygrown market, you are virtually assured of receiving the “cream of the crop” from each farmer? You will receive the best products picked and made with pride especially for YOU! You can’t get any fresher and higher quality than that! Thank you for supporting your local farmers and small businessmen and women.

The market is open as usual, and will remain open for your orders till Tuesday at 10 pm.

Please be sure to read the section of the page entitled “Important Ordering and Pickup Information.”

Farm News of the Week

Erdmann Farm is on vacation mode for a couple of weeks. When I get back, I should have radishes and pumpkins in addition to the peppers I’ve had.

… to let us know if you have suggestions for new products which could be offered by the market. We have a good variety of farms, many of which can alter their plans slightly upon request.

What’s New at Solace Farm?

A quiet corner of our operations here at Solace Farm that is often overlooked is our alpaca herd. We really love these sweet, timid animals, both for their gentle nature and their fantastic wool. Alpaca fleece is many times warmer than sheep wool, lanolin-free so hypoallergenic, and non-itchy. What more could you ask for in a wool?! Non-shrinking? Well, it comes in that too – there are 2 varieties of alpacas, the Huacaya which is fuzzy like sheep, and the Suri that has long, shimmery locks more like hair – and Suri wool doesn’t shrink in hot water! We currently have 12 Huacaya alpacas, and 1 Suri – about the proportions for the US in general. One of our Huacaya is our newest baby, Tanya, born this summer. We’re expecting one more this fall, Reba is keeping us in suspense – they have an 11.5 month gestation give or take a few weeks, and they really don’t show a pregnancy at all, so they really build the suspense!

Alpacas can be difficult to keep healthy, they are susceptible to vitamin deficiencies as well as meningeal worms, a parasite that attacks the brain. Raising a healthy herd can be a challenge, but we’ve learned so much over the 7 years we’ve had them, and have found a management style that works for both us and them – and it’s worth it when we wear our luxurious sweaters, hats and mittens or see those sweet babies! We welcome visitors, so if you’d like to see these beautiful animals firsthand just contact me to set up a visit.

Below is baby Tanya. Visit our website www.SolaceFarmHomestead.com for occasional blog posts and pictures.

Natasha Brooks of Triple B Farms writes:
Just a few notes from Triple B Farms/Crusader Coffee/Pickleweed Sweet Treats.

Grace, who makes the delicious sweets, is going to take a break from the market. She is in her senior year of high school and wants to focus on school. She would like to thank everyone that has bought her treats and to let you all know she will be back possibly later in the year.

Triple B Farms has added a few new items just in time for early Christmas shopping! Check out the handmade section or the seasonal section.

Crusader Coffee is roasted in Coffee County on Coffee Street! Crusader Coffee is roasted specifically for Templar Shooting Sports in Tullahoma on 1101 S. Jackson Street. We have three blends specially roasted for the quality, flavor, and freshness all coffee lovers want. We also have K-cups that come with an adapter for your Keurig.* If you have purchased k-cups from us and they are not working in your coffee maker, send me an email and I can bring you an adapter*. 10% of all profit from Crusader Coffee goes directly to A Soldiers Child foundation, founded, and located in Smyrna, TN. They are a local charity whose mission is to celebrate the life of children who have lost a parent while on active duty. Each child sponsored receives a birthday celebration worthy of the honor and sacrifice their family has made for our nation.

When you purchase any blend of Crusader Coffee, not only are you getting locally roasted, fresh coffee, you’re supporting your local economy and a cause worthy of all Americans.

I received this note from Hope for Health:
I’m back this week, and i will have freshly sprouted alfalfa. Try some pumpkin muffins, here just in time for fall! Also, toffee, pecan pralines, and carrot cake cupcakes are available. You won’t find treats like this at the supermarket, or even the bakery! All of my products are near unbeatable in quality, as I am very choosy in what and where I source my ingredients. The products I sell are the same products I carefully make for my family.

(Clockwise from upper left): Sprouted Alfalfa, Healthful Pumpkin Muffins, Gift Boxed New Orleans Style Pecan Pralines, Dark Chocolate Toffee.
