Middle Tennessee Locally Grown is your online Farmers’ Market for local produce, baked goods, plants, and handcrafted items. You can order between 8 a.m. Sunday and 10:00 p.m Tuesday. Pickup is at one of three specified times and locations on Thursday afternoons:

• On Thursday afternoons between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. under the big pavilion on Fort Street with signs that say “Coffee County Farmers Market.” It’s across the street from the Manchester City Schools administration building, 215 East Fort St, Manchester.

• Or on Thursday afternoons between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. outside “Nature’s Elite”, which has moved to
  105 West Decherd St, Tullahoma, TN.

• Or on Thurday afternoons between 5:30 and 6:00 pm outside Martin Chapel Fellowship, at 110 Market Street, McMinnville, TN. It’s very close to the big water tower and the farmers’ market pavilion.

We can also deliver your order to your home in Coffee County on Thursdays, for a small fee, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please order it same as other items, indicating location.

German Johnson (also known as German Johnson Pink) is an heirloom that came with immigrants to Virginia and North Carolina. It is one of the four ‘grandparents’ of the Mortgage Lifter tomato. It is indeterminate with large fruits that are ‘rough’ (not nice and smooth like a Celebrity, but kind of ridged) and weigh ¾ to 1.5 pounds. They have pink skin with yellow shoulders, mild taste, low acidity, and are a very meaty fruit with few seeds. They have heavy yields. They are good sliced or for canning. They have fair disease resistance and a regular tomato leaf. 76-80 days.

After crossing varieties for 6 years and selecting the best, he introduced this beauty that he named Mortgage Lifter in the 1940's after he sold plants for $1 each and paid off the $6,000 mortgage on his house.

The Roma tomato is egg or pear-shaped and red. It has few seeds and is a good canning and sauce tomato. While Roma is an open-pollinated variety, in general it is not considered an heirloom tomato. Maturing in under three months, the plant itself grows to 4 feet in height and the single fruit weighs about 4 oz. The vines are purple and fruit heavily, making Roma a popular variety with gardeners who do a lot of home canning.

Heirloom. An old favorite, Rutgers is proven to be highly productive. The large, red fruits have a thick flesh with superior flavor. Strong determinate vines yield a large initial crop followed by several flushes of fruit. This is one of those classic tomatoes that has been used as a parent in the breeding of many other hybrids. Seldom has problems with cracking. Resistant to verticillium wilt (V), fusarium wilt (F), and alternaria stem canker (A).
