From Carter at CS3 Farms

We have Speckled Pea and Sunflower Microgreens, Revitalizing Bath Salt, Black Hawaiian Salt, and delicious and nutritious Shrubs.

Want to make sure your salad has some texture and taste? Add some microgreens. Delicious sunflower and speckled pea micros will add nutrition to your smoothie, complement or replace your fresh lettuce salad, or garnish a vegetable or meat dish of your choice.

When your day definitely could go better, add a bit of our Revitalizing Bath Salt to your hot water bath and let the day’s troubles evaporate. Our delicious Black Hawaiian Salt adds a delicious, light smokiness to any food, and is also good for you (in moderation).

Try a gut-healthy Ginger-Fig or Wolfberry Mint shrub/tonic for great taste combined with nutritious ingredients. Use them also for a salad dressing.

(Top, L to R) Microgreens and Revitalizing Bath Salts.
(Bottom, L to R) Black Hawaiian Salt and Wolfberry Mint Shrub concentrate.

From Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:

I’m restocking perennials as I’m able from the nursery area to the sales area, but I don’t have a lot of them left, so if you’re looking for something in particular, please ask. The astilbes are now out of bloom, and I’ve removed them from the market, but I still have a few if you’d like to add for next year’s shade garden (please request by email). I also still have some native begonias, and have restocked some really nice ferns. And for sun or part sun, the daylilies just coming into bloom cannot be beat. I have a few other nice plants for sunny locations, including Sedum, Shasta Daisy, Stokesia Asters, and others. Please check back weekly for availability.

Coming soon: restocked elderberry bushes and hanging baskets.

(Top, L to R) Daylily Small Pink with Red Throat and Tassel Fern.
(Bottom, L to R) Sedum with Pink Flowers and Shasta Daisy.
All items listed under “Growers”.

This Week's News - Still Time to Order!

From Carter at CS3 Farms

We have early Romaine lettuce, chicory, and microgreens, as well as our delicious nutrient-dense Farmed and Foraged Greens. We also have herbal honey, gourmet mustard, and herbal teas for what ails you!

Green romaine and curly lettuce are coming in strong, as is our chicory! We have chicory leaf, which has a unique, bitter taste that adds a special “kick” to salads, sandwiches, and many other meals. Our bodies need bitter for digestion and other functions, so why not try some that is nutritious?

Add nutrition, texture, and taste to your salad or sandwich with Mustard, Kale, and Turnip Microgreens. There’s just the right amount of bite to get your taste buds’ attention! Microgreens have much higher nutrient levels than the full grown veggies, and work well adding to smoothies, salads, or baked dishes.

You will love our Farmed and Foraged greens. This blend is a great tame & wild hybrid salad complement or substitute, it’s awesome on sandwiches, and it is quite delicious topping a burger or other sandwich. If you tried forage greens you will appreciate the tasty, nutrient dense, blend that will either replace or complement your salad.

(Top, L to R) Romaine Lettuce & Chicory.
(Bottom, L to R) Microgreens & Dinosaur Kale.
All items found under “Growers”.

From Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:

The greenhouses are emptying out this spring, but we still have a few beautiful items for shade: astilbes, native begonias, coral bells, and several ferns. And for sun or part sun: balloon flowers, daylilies, Euphorbia, Geraniums (Cranesbill), Sedum, Shasta Daisy, and Stokesia Asters.

We are currently sold out of elderberry bushes, but will be glad to dig more. If you would like some, let us know how many so we will dig enough.

Keep an eye on the Houseplant section – we’ll be adding a few within a couple of weeks. They’ll be happy on the porch this summer, as long as you remember to bring them inside in late September. Most houseplants don’t like temperatures lower than 50 degrees at night.

(Top, L to R) Astilbe group and Hardy Species Begonia for shady areas.
(Bottom, L to R) Balloon Flower and Geranium (Cranesbill) for sunny areas.
All items listed under “Growers”.

We also have some ground beef from Triple T Farms. Solace Farm has plenty of beef cuts available, and Weaver Farms and Sow’s Ear Piggery have good selections of pork cuts.

More news soon.

Blessings,
Linda

Did you also get two copies of this?

From Sow’s Ear Piggery:

Sow’s Ear Piggery has posted some additional pork products this week, including two Boston Butts (a summer time BBQ favorite), two tenderloins (a prized cut), and 3-pound packages of chops (these are the last 3 packages of chops we will have until late June!).

In addition, we still have quantities of pork stew meat, pork cutlet, shoulder steaks, ground pork, and fresh ham steaks (these are simply thin cuts from back leg of the pig. Brown in a skillet, cover with some liquid and seasoning. Simple!).

As always, our pork is Non-GMO fed, no antibiotics or any other additives.

We have carob power balls, two flavors of shrub concentrate (drinking vinegars), and flowers!

Our carob balls are handmade, with raisins and astragalus. Carob tastes a little like chocolate, is Nutrient-Dense, low in calories, and a good source of calcium.

Try a gut-healthy Ginger-Fig or Wolfberry Mint shrub/tonic for great taste combined with nutritious ingredients. Use them as a salad dressing poured over your choice of salad greens or microgreens, or mixed with water for a delicious and refreshing drink.

The field daisies are blooming brightly — get you a dozen to brighten your home! The bachelor buttons (cornflowers) are also showing off. Bachelor buttons are edible and medicinal, so you can “recycle” them after they are finished blooming! Make a bouquet or an edible centerpiece.

(Top, L to R) Carob Balls & Radishes.

There are a very few tomato plants left, and I’ve added a couple of jalapeno peppers. First come, first served, as there will be no more vegetable plants this spring. I have lots of beautiful herbs, available both as plants and as ‘Fresh-cuts’. But if you need one I haven’t listed, let me know and I’ll try to find it.

The letter of the week is ‘S’: sedum, shasta daisy, and Stokesia aster! All will make the more sunny areas of your garden shine! I still have a good selection of perennials for shady areas too.

We have delicious microgreens, farmed and foraged salad greens, and gourmet herbal mustard.

Want to make sure your salad has some texture and taste? Add some microgreens. Delicious sunflower and speckled pea shoot micros will add nutrition to your smoothie, complement or replace your fresh lettuce salad, or garnish a vegetable or meat dish of your choice.

Remember foraged greens? Now we have Farmed and Foraged greens. This blend is a great tame & wild hybrid salad complement or substitute, it’s awesome on sandwiches, and it is quite delicious topping a burger or other sandwich.

We also (finally) have a new batch of our Scarborough Fair Mustard. The herbs include parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, and they give just about any sandwich, salad, or meat/vegetable dish a touch of heat backed by a delicious whole mouth wow.

(Top, L to R) Sunflower Microgreens; Farmed & Foraged Greens.
(Bottom, L to R) The makin’s for Scarborough Fair Mustard; Field Daisies.

From Dogwood Valley Greenhouse

I have restocked some varieties of tomato plants, just a few of each. I was unable to get bell peppers, however. I’ve restocked most of the herbs, and there will be more in the near future. If you need a particular herb, let me know and I’ll try to find it.

The astilbes are beginning to bloom in shade and part shade; the daylilies in sun and part sun. Both come in an array of beautiful colors. The ferns are finally getting large enough to be added to your garden, and I’ve included several varieties on the market. They, along with the foam flower and hostas, will really brighten your shady areas. The green creeping sedum is now flowering, and its cheerful yellow star-shaped flowers will enhance more sunny areas.

We have fresh greens, herbal honey, and two flavors of hummus.

We have a few more heads of delicious red lettuce, some tatsoi (taste and consistency is somewhere between spinach and chard) and mustard greens. They aren’t ready yet, but we are also working on some micro greens.

We also have more of our tasty gourmet Apicius and Hot Thyme Red Wine Mustards. They give both meat and vegetables a light amount of heat backed by a delicious whole mouth taste.

Try our new toasted pine nut hummus or roasted red pepper hummus. They are delicious on breads, crackers, salads, or even soups (hummus is a great meat/protein alternative).

We also have herbal honey, tonics/shrubs, herbal teas, and traditional teas to brighten your day!
