Live Plants

All the very early spring perennials are still available, and in addition a bunch of new ones have joined them recently. Unfortunately I cannot make them all featured, which is why I list them here. The very early azaleas are blooming, including my personal favorite, the white streaked with a little pink, and my other personal favorite, the pink with throat markings, both fall rebloomers. Another shrub in bloom right now is flowering almond, which really deserves a spot in your garden. The dwarf coreopsis is just beginning its long bloom cycle, and several mints are growing well. Three woodland phlox are blooming, including both purple and pink stolonifera as well as blue divaricata. These three will really light up your spring shady areas.

Very new to the market this week, and very special, are the “Stacked Planters”. I have put some together with hardy herbs and some with hardy succulents, and am impatiently waiting till warmer weather to plant some with tender succulents. These planters have three layers which can be disassembled and rearranged as much as you like. I will be glad to bring one in to place on the market table for you to see if you’d like. Just drop me an email and let me know.

Restocked Pork From Two Farmers!

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown market

is open for your orders till Tuesday evening at 10 pm.

Under Butchers:
Pork

More Weaver Farms pork cuts are back! Four flavors of Sausage Links and five of Breakfast Sausage are now available under the farm name. Sorry, no pictures – we are far too busy getting new cuts processed for you.

New “small batch” pork offerings from Sow’s Ear Piggery:

Our 3 little pigs went to market and produced some very tender “small batch” cuts now available.

Excellent ground pork. Minimal seasoning needed. We also have petite chops, for quick skillet dinners. Cutlets are another stove-top favorite. Shoulder steaks for a savory “low and slow” meal.

As always, our pork comes from heritage breed pigs raised outdoors on a non-GMO, non-corn, non-soy diet.

We have more products to add soon! But given the small batch, they won’t last long.

Brighten your day or someone else’s with a bouquet of spring Daffodils from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, some with special colors. Flowering Almond Shrub is in bloom and Euphorbia or Spurge, the very unusual green-flowered ‘St. Patrick’s Day Plant’, as I like to call it, is just coming into bloom.

It’s getting pretty warm for the early daffodils, but as they fade out, my colorful ones will begin to bloom. This week’s daffodil bouquet should have some pinks or oranges in it. Order your gorgeous hand-picked fresh flowers today!

Surprise! The very early perennials are in bloom at Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, and they could brighten your garden too. This week’s beauties include: Lenten rose, wild ginger, green Jacob’s ladder (Greek valerian), lavender woodland Phlox stolonifera, vinca (periwinkle or creeping myrtle), and candytuft. They are all in limited supply, so order early. The weather should be great for planting this week. But warm enough to plant means too warm for daffodils. This will probably be the last week of blooms, but I should have lots this week as they come on fast in the warmer weather. Order your gorgeous hand-picked fresh flowers today!

Under “Growers”:
Cut Flowers

It’s daffodil time in Tennessee! Well, I hope it is. 70* weather at the first of the week brought the buds on too fast, then the beds where my daffodils are planted all flooded a foot deep! Lastly we had an inch of snow Thursday night and temperatures hovering around freezing all day Friday, which bowed down the tenderest, largest buds. Some of the first flowers may have been damaged, but the majority of the bed will be fine. So I’m going out on a limb and listing a few bouquets available this week. If those are sold when you place your order, go ahead and order one anyway, but know that I will be filling orders on a first come, first served basis. The daffodils will come on fast if we have warmish weather. They should be available for at least two more weeks after this one, so if you miss out on the early blooms, please try again next week. Thanks for your continued support and encouragement!

Hill Top Creations is a small family crafting business. We are currently crafting elderberry syrup. It has the berries, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, orange peel, dried echinacea and honey. This little syrup has been a blessing to our health! No flu for us this year!
