Granola - Meringue Crunch Blueberry Ginger 1 lbGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $8.00 ( 1 lb )Available (Exact): 2
If you love crunchy, crispy granola then this is for you! I adapted a recipe for cookies that had quickly become a household favorite. This makes a super-crispy cereal, with no added fat, and I've cut the sugar to less than 1/3 of most granola, just enough to taste great – and with the egg whites, it actually has added protein! Win-win-win! This is definitely my go-to breakfast with some homemade yogurt and raw honey drizzled on top (right behind my all-time favorite of a fried duck egg with a drizzle of toasted sesame oil, seaweed powder, and a sprinkle of sea salt, of course!)
Ingredients are simply: Pecans & walnuts, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, oats, dried blueberries & candied ginger, sugar, egg whites, sea salt.

Hanging Basket - Calibrachoa, Mixed ColorsGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $26.00 ( each 10" basket )Available (Estimated): 1
Like a tiny petunia on steroids, Calibrachoa (also called million bells) grows and flowers at an amazing rate. Often confused for a petunia, million bells makes a splash in containers or hanging baskets. Be sure to give it ample water and fertilizer, which it needs to fuel its astounding growth.
Calibrachoa like sun, but in the South, there can be too much of a good thing. On the South or West side of a building, a few hours of intense summer sun will be quite enough for these little guys. On my south-facing porch, where they received direct sun for only a short time, Calibrachoa were very happy last summer.

Herb Plant - Basil, CinnamonGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon pot )Available (Exact): 2
Also known as Mexican basil, cinnamon basil is native to the world’s tropical and subtropical climates. Cinnamon basil plants thrive when temperatures are in the 80's and 90's (27-32 C. or more.). This basil plant displays dark green leaves and cinnamon colored stems. Cinnamon basil plants contain cinnamite, a compound that gives the herb an intense, spicy aroma and cinnamon like flavor.
Cinnamon basil is sometimes used medicinally, and is said to be good for maladies such as constipation, headaches, cough, and diarrhea. It contains vitamins A and C, and provides a generous amount of vitamin K. The spicy herb is appreciated by chefs too, who use it as an attractive garnish or to flavor hot drinks or other dishes.
Cinnamon basil requires full sunlight and well-drained soil. Dig a generous amount of compost or well-rotted manure into the soil before planting. Allow plenty of space for Cinnamon basil, as the plant can reach heights and widths of up to 3 feet (1 m.).
Water cinnamon basil plants as needed to keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Cinnamon basil grown in containers should be watered whenever the top 1 inch (2.5 cm.) of potting mix feels dry. Don’t overwater, as basil is prone to rot in muddy soil conditions. A thin layer of mulch will help keep the soil moist and prevent evaporation.
Pinch the tips of Cinnamon basil as the plants grow to produce full, bushy growth. Remove the spiky blooms as soon as they appear. Snip leaves and stems any time during the growing season. The flavor is best when the plants are harvested before they flower.

Herb Plant - ChamomileGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon Pot )Available (Estimated): 2
Chamomile is a fernlike plant which grows 12" tall x 18" wide. It's a hardy perennial with furry, flattened, grey-green, feathery leaves. It's recommended as a ground cover on moist, sandy, well-drained sites in full sun to part shade. It begins flowering in late July or August, and flowers can be harvested every 10 days. To dry chamomile flowers, collect them in the morning when the dew has dried. Spread them on newspapers in an airy room and turn them often until thoroughly dried. Store them in a cool, dark, dry place, preferably in tightly lidded containers.
Chamomile has been used as a traditional medicine for thousands of years to calm anxiety and settle stomachs. In the U.S., chamomile is best known as an ingredient in herbal tea.
Because chamomile can cause uterine contractions which can lead to miscarriage, the U.S. National Institutes of Health recommends that pregnant and nursing mothers should not consume chamomile. Individuals allergic to ragweed may also be allergic to chamomile due to cross-reactivity.

Herb Plant - ChivesGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( gallon pot )Available (Estimated): 3
Chives belong to the same family as onion, leeks and garlic. They are a hardy, drought-tolerant perennial growing to about 10-12 inches tall. They grow in clumps from underground bulbs and produce round, hollow leaves that are much finer than onion. In mid-summer, they produce round, pink flowers similar in appearance to clover.
Chives prefer a full sun location and are tolerant of a wide variety of soils but will grow best in soils that are high in organic matter. Chives are most commonly propagated by dividing the clumps in early spring. Clumps should contain about 4-6 bulbs.
Plants that are harvested frequently benefit from supplemental fertilizer during the season. Chives can self-sow and overtake a garden unless flowers are removed before they fade. Chives also make attractive edging in the perennial border and flowers can be cut for arrangements.

Herb Plant - French TarragonGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon pot )Available (Exact): 1
French Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus var. sativa) is the commonly grown temperate-zone tarragon, with a sweet anise flavor, used for culinary purposes. Clip the leaves into salads and on top of soups, to flavor sauces, or with shellfish, fish, chicken, and turkey.
French tarragon plants grow up to 24 inches high and 12 inches wide in two years. The leaves are narrow, up to 2 inches long, and have a fresh green color. The flowers are tiny, pale green, and sterile. Don't confuse it with
Russian tarragon (Artemisia dracunculoides), a close relative which has no flavor.
Tarragon is not particular about temperature and can be grown from Zone 2 to Zone 9. Tarragon’s roots must have fast-draining soil to prevent rot. Plant tarragon in a raised bed where good drainage is ensured.
Divide tarragon in late winter or early spring. Young plants need to be watered every other day during dry weather. Mature plants should be watered every three days to encourage a continual supply of fresh leaves. Mature plants can survive for long periods without water, but under these conditions they will not grow new leaves.
Although average to good garden soil is adequate for tarragon, top-dress with compost every winter to ensure that plants growing for six or seven years do not lose their flavor. If your soil is acidic, tarragon benefits from an application of dolomite for alkalinity and magnesium.
Container growing is easy and works well for one season, but the roots soon take up the space of all but the largest container, and the leaves lose flavor. We have had no problems from pests and diseases and theorize that the anise flavor works as a repellent.
Cut back in June for a continuous harvest. Preserve the leaves in vinegar, or chop and freeze tarragon in water in ice cube trays. However you handle it, tarragon in the kitchen is a delight, as its delicate flavor complements many foods.

Herb Plant - Garden DillGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon pot )Available (Estimated): 2
Dill is a culinary herb with a distinctive flavor that's a cross between celery and fennel. Native to Europe and Asia, dill plays a big role in seasoning pickled foods that will be jarred or canned and stored for winter. Beyond that, both the leaves and seeds are used to season a variety of dishes.
Dill's feathery foliage can be quite ornamental, which makes it a nice addition to flower beds, where it will attract polllinators and butterflies, especially the Eastern black swallowtail butterfly. It blends well with other plants, whether used as foliage or for a bright spot of color—just be sure to keep its self-sowing habit in check by deadheading flower heads before they go to seed.
Although it has a delicate appearance, dill is actually a fairly cold-hardy plant. Mature plants are multi-branched and upright with finely dissected leaves. The wide, flat flowers can make the plant top-heavy and cause it to bend over. The entire plant is extremely fragrant—the foliage and seeds are most commonly thought of as seasonings, but the flowers are also edible.

Herb Plant - LemongrassGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon pot )Available (Exact): 2
Lemongrass is widely used as a culinary herb in Asian cuisines and also as medicinal herb in India. It has a subtle citrus flavor and can be dried and powdered, or used fresh. It is commonly used in teas, soups, and curries. It is also suitable for use with poultry, fish, beef, and seafood. It is often used as a tea in African countries such as Togo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Latin American countries such as Mexico. Lemongrass oil is used as a pesticide and a preservative. Research shows that lemongrass oil has antifungal properties.
In the garden, lemongrass forms a tall, grassy clump 3 to 5 feet tall. Its appearance rivals that of many ornamental grasses and can easily fulfill a similar role in the landscape.
Due to its tropical nature, lemongrass usually only survives winters in zones 8 and warmer. In middle Tennessee, try growing lemongrass as an annual in planting beds or tucked into pots. This citrus-flavored grass overwinters well in a dormant state in a cool, dark spot indoors, or you can grow it as an indoor herb through winter in colder zones.
Harvest lemongrass for its bulbous stem bases, rich with lemony flavor, or clip leaves for infusing tea and soup stock.
Start harvesting as soon as plants are 12 inches tall and stem bases are at least ½-inch thick. Cut stalks at ground level, or hand-pull entire stalks. You want to get the entire swollen base, which resembles a scallion or green onion. If a few roots come up with the stalk, don’t worry: It won’t harm the plant.
The edible portion of lemongrass is near the bottom of the stalk. Carefully cut off the grassy top part of the plant; use caution, as this can be razor-sharp at times. Leaves can be bundled and added to the liquid in a teapot or stock pot, then simmered to infuse lemon flavor into the brew.
Take the lemongrass base and peel the outer fibrous layer to expose the inner white, reedy part. To store, freeze this part either whole or chopped. To make slicing easier, first crush the stem base with the flat blade of a knife. The heart of the stalk (the part you want) has the consistency of soft butter and will then slice easily.

Large, broad, fragrant dark green leaves and a decidedly upright shape with good, sturdy growth make this rosemary a garden standout. Gorizia ‘s strong upright stems make good skewers for the grill, and its mild flavor make this one good for culinary uses.
Gorizia does best in full sun but it will tolerate partial shade. The plant prefers a well-drained soil and has some drought tolerance, thus it shouldn’ t be over-watered. This stunning rosemary provides considerable winter interest in the garden and blooms with pinkish to medium blue flowers repeatedly during spring and summer. It usually attains 4 to 5 feet in height and maintains an almost columnar upright form, as opposed to more shrubby varieties.
Rosemary Culture: A rewarding plant to grow, rosemary has few problems. It needs excellent drainage; though full sun is desirable, rosemary can tolerate a considerable amount of high shade. Since it has many tiny, shallow roots, rosemary is sensitive about water – neither too much nor too little, as starving for water causes it to wilt. Heavy mulching will help it survive cold spells and also the high heat of summer. Prune dead or damaged portions in early spring.

Hosta04 Plant, Midsize - Compact, Glaucous Blue-green, Heart-shape LeavesGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon pot )Available (Estimated): 3
18" tall x 30" wide - Tardiana Group (generally large-leaved cultivars with blue-green leaves.) Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, pollinators, deer resistant, rabbit resistant, slug resistant, low maintenance. ("Resistant" does not mean "proof".)
An excellent hosta for a small garden with a compact, medium-sized mound of gorgeous, glaucous blue-green, flattened, heart-shape leaves. Pairs well with bright, variegated hosta varieties. Slow growing. Retains its color well in the heat of summer in shadier locations. Dies back in winter.
Tall stems of showy pale lavender-mauve flowers on 26" stems emerge in summer. It is an erect plant growing to about 14 inches tall with heavily textured. spear-shaped blue-green leaves resembling seersucker fabric.
Hostas prefer consistent moisture but will tolerate somewhat dry soil. Drainage is most important, to prevent dormant season crown rot. They might wilt in very warm temperatures unless frequently watered, and high humidity sometimes encourages snails and slugs, which can chew ragged disfiguring holes in the foliage. Keeping the ground free of thick mulches can discourage slugs and snails. Fertilize each spring and again in summer. Granular fertilizers should never sit on the leaves.
Deer find them tasty, and you might try planting daffodils around your hosta to keep them away from the emerging shoots. Slugs leave unsightly holes in the leaves, but a light scattering of sand around your plants will help keep them away.

Hosta08 Plant, Midsize - Parchment Center, Bluegreen BorderGrower: Dogwood Valley Greenhouse
Price: $8.00 ( Gallon pot )Available (Exact): 3
**This medium sized hosta (18" tall x 24" wide) has corrugated foliage with wide, bluegreen border that surrounds the parchment center. Vigorous grower, compact. Lavender blooms in midsummer. Part sun to shade.
Sunlight requirements of different hostas vary widely, depending on foliage color, which ranges from a deep blue to a light chartreuse to a soft creamy white. In general, the lighter the foliage, the brighter the sun. The deeper darker foliage retains it color best in moderate shade, while the variegated varieties need more sunlight to keep their white and gold stripes. All hostas need some shade and few, if any, will do well in strong direct sunlight. Plant in rich organic soil with a slightly acidic pH. Dig the planting hole about a foot deep, and wide enough to accommodate spread. Hostas are rugged and tolerate almost any soil. Drainage is most important, to prevent dormant season crown rot. When newly planted, keep the roots moist, not wet. Once established, hosta plants aren’t fussy.
