Sweet Bonnet (Mild) Sauce: This sauce is the Third NEW batch and has a bit of a kick to it, a little more than the first, second batch...I actually used sweet bonnet peppers and left the seeds inside the mix. This batch was a little hotter than I intended, but still would be good on chips, smoothed onto a chicken sandwich, or added to eggs. If you don't mind the little extra heat. This batch is smoother, I pulsed it in the processor and drink blender. These peppers are homegrown. Ingredients: They are roasted in a cast iron skillet with onions, carrots, red bell pepper and tossed with avocado oil until tender. Spices are added, such as ground coriander (grown in my garden), garlic powder, ground ginger, thyme (grown in my garden), fresh lemon juice, honey, black pepper, freshly ground from peppercorns, white wine vinegar, salt. The mixture is added to a blender and pulsed until smooth, adding more vinegar as needed to liquify and blend. They are water bath canned in a pot for 20 minutes until sealed. The mix can last indefinitely if refrigerated, because it contains vinegar and honey, which is a preservative in its own right. **************************************** No chemicals are used in my garden. I love this scent - smoky, but a bit sweet. Bergamot essential oil is a dark, spicy citrus smell, like orange peel rather than orange juice, and it pairs beautifully with the smoky dark scent of cedarwood essential oil to make a great fragrance for men, as well as women. Why use a shampoo bar? Partly to avoid all those disturbing ingredients in commercial shampoo! Then wouldn’t any nice, handmade bar soap work? Well, I’ve tried it, with my own goat milk soap, and it was not what I wanted! Hair, and even more importantly our scalp, needs ultra-moisturizing treatment, and this bar is specially made to do that. Hair gets oily because we wash off all our natural oils, prompting the scalp to make more. But that makes our hair oily, so we wash it again, further stripping our scalp of natural protective oils... And because we’re stripping everything off our hair - and scalp - we need a conditioner to make it soft and smooth and healthy (everything the natural oils were trying to do, incidentally). Then, since we used a heavy conditioner, our hair is weighed-down and needs washing... Or, we can both clean and condition with a natural soap that gets out dirt and oils but doesn’t strip our hair, and simultaneously conditions it - and our scalp - with the naturally-occurring glycerin, as well as the goat milk and vitamin-rich egg yolks.
