Salve - Skin Relief by Zao OrganicsGrower: Dogwood Acres Farm

Oasis: A Skin Quenching Relief Salve
"For those nasty skin irritations meet a
soothing.....Oasis. Harness nature's healing properties
with this vitamins and fatty acid rich salve.
Dosage: Scratch no more. Apply me to your skin
irritation gently and thinly after it's clean. Reapply until
I've sooted your irritation away."
"Good morning May. So glad to see you. Hello
everyone, we are glad to see you too. We return with
another Spotlight product of the month. Another salve
to fill your healing arsenal, Oasis, A Skin Quenching
Relief Salve.
As we begin to approach the arrival of Summer, we seek to be outside more and more. The
Sun kisses us gently but for some of us, it could be drying to our skin or even irritating if we get
too much. But no need to worry. Grab this salve to aid your skin in relief and healing with the
nature's blessings along with an abundance of vitamins and fatty acids.
When the desire to scratch that itch, please grab for the salve instead. Make sure the
area is clean prior to application. A thin layer will do and reapply until much better."
There is a slew of products currently on the market advertising that they help with ‘pain this’ or
‘anti-inflammatory that’, but I am here to tell you the proof is in the ingredients with Oasis.
Turmeric, Barberry, and Quercetin are blended together perfectly to offer the relief your body
needs through known anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant therapeutic actions while also reducing
redness and that annoying itchy sensation. The beautiful blend of base oils is what really holds
this salve together with a wide array of Fatty Acids, including alpha-linolenic acid, which acts as
a neuroprotectant.
I love this product because it encourages the Herbalists’ view and understanding that less is
actually more. We can see this by the simple blend of natural ingredients that make up Oasis.
ZAO Organics understands the process of natural synergy and has formulated a beautifully
working product that penetrates deep into the skin, providing each dermal layer with
nourishment and relief.
I highly recommend this product to anyone experiencing eczema, psoriasis, tinea, joint pain,
rheumatoid arthritis, varicose veins, and general issues involving pain and inflammation.

Shampoo Bar - Goat Milk, Cedar Bergamot Goofy GoatGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $7.00 ( 1 bar )Available (Exact): 3
I love this scent - smoky, but a bit sweet. Bergamot essential oil is a dark, spicy citrus smell, like orange peel rather than orange juice, and it pairs beautifully with the smoky dark scent of cedarwood essential oil to make a great fragrance for men, as well as women.
Why use a shampoo bar? Partly to avoid all those disturbing ingredients in commercial shampoo! Then wouldn’t any nice, handmade bar soap work? Well, I’ve tried it, with my own goat milk soap, and it was not what I wanted! Hair, and even more importantly our scalp, needs ultra-moisturizing treatment, and this bar is specially made to do that. Hair gets oily because we wash off all our natural oils, prompting the scalp to make more. But that makes our hair oily, so we wash it again, further stripping our scalp of natural protective oils... And because we’re stripping everything off our hair - and scalp - we need a conditioner to make it soft and smooth and healthy (everything the natural oils were trying to do, incidentally). Then, since we used a heavy conditioner, our hair is weighed-down and needs washing...
Or, we can both clean and condition with a natural soap that gets out dirt and oils but doesn’t strip our hair, and simultaneously conditions it - and our scalp - with the naturally-occurring glycerin, as well as the goat milk and vitamin-rich egg yolks. Treating the scalp well is so important to healthy hair - if your skin is nourished and moisturized, it doesn’t need to produce more oils, and so your hair actually stays clean longer, and the whole cycle is healthier for hair and skin!
This luxurious bar soap contains moisturizing olive, avocado and almond oils, and lots of castor oil which is great for hair, and local lard from pastured, non-GMO-fed pigs from Cove Creek Farm, hand-rendered here at Solace Farm, to give the shampoo stability and firmness. I also use my goats milk and some of my duck egg yolks for even more moisturizing. This bar doubles as a spectacular facial cleanser, in addition to being an amazingly conditioning shampoo, definitely the most moisturizing soap I've ever made.
When using as shampoo, follow with an apple cider vinegar rinse (I use a small spritzer bottle) if you have harder water, and if you have soft water you probably don’t need anything, and there's no need for conditioner, although I sometimes use a teeny bit of diluted commercial organic conditioner as a leave-in detangler for my kids hair. Since I started making and using bar shampoo 10 years ago, this is all I use and I love it!
Scented with only natural essential oils of Cedar & Frankincense, with Lavender and Patchouli. Molded bars are 4 oz, complete ingredients also on label, packaged in a windowed brown paperboard box.

Shampoo Bar - Goat Milk, Lavender Plain BarGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $7.00 ( 4 oz bar )Available (Exact): 9
Plain and simple, this is just lavender essential oil.
NOTE: This shampoo bar uses local non-GMO lard from Pig Mountain farm, and I have just started making it with local grass-fed beef tallow from Dayspring Farm as well - the tallow results in a slightly harder bar that will last longer in your shower! I do have a vegetarian bar on request, just send me an email about substituting that one.

Since I started making and using bar shampoo 10 years ago, this is all I use and I love it!
Unscented to be gentle on even the most sensitive skin. Molded square bars are 4 oz, complete ingredients on label, hand-wrapped in brown paper.

Shampoo Bar - Goat Milk, Unscented Tree of LifeGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $7.00 ( 1 bar )Available (Exact): 6
This is my exact same shampoo bar recipe, but absolutely fragrance-free. This bar is molded in the shape of a branching Tree of Life.

Shampoo Bar - Vegetarian, Rosemary Citrus Plain BarGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $7.00 ( 1 bar )Available (Exact): 5
An invigorating citrus-herbal blend of rosemary, orange, lime & grapefruit essential oils.
This recipe is vegetarian (but not vegan) with my usual goat milk, duck egg yolks and honey, but with the lard and tallow swapped out for sustainably grown red palm and palm kernel oils. Also contains almond, coconut, olive and castor oils.
This 4 oz bar comes wrapped in handcut brown paper.

Soap - Goat Milk & Lard, Eucalyptus Mint Dragonfly RectangleGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $4.00 ( 4 oz bar rectangle )Available (Exact): 1
This 4 oz rectangle bar has a dragonfly molded on the front, either plain cream-colored soap, or I can paint it green with natural mica color, add a note in a "Note to Grower" at checkout, if you would like it painted.
The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it!
I hand-make all my soap in small batches, 6 to 36 bars at a time. If you have used a good handmade soap before, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying! When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin. A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin! This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package. I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my tallow body balm on my hands occasionally, and my lip balm or lip blush all year-round!

Soap - Goat Milk & Lard, Lavender, Anise & Patchouli EO, Tree of LifeGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $4.00 ( 3.5 oz bar )Available (Estimated): 3
A unique, striking blend of herbal lavender and earthy patchouli essential oils, with a touch of the unmistakable licorice-scent of anise oil - this is one of my favorites, and a frequent comment upon smelling this is “Oooh, I never liked patchouli before, but this! I love this!” This scent is great for men or women, it’s a little spicy, a little dark, and a little sweet.
This recipe is made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! (Check out my FAQ section at the bottom of the page for why there is lye in soap). I love this soap, in fact I used to make this as a regular, non-goat milk soap, but then made a batch with goat milk for a custom order and loved it so much I decided to convert my lard soaps to goat milk-lard soaps. It is nicely moisturizing, cleans really well with no residue, and has a great lather!
This bar is available in either a 3.5 oz molded square bar etched with a beautiful Tree of Life (this listing), or a plain square bar (separate listing). The molded bar comes in a brown windowed paperboard box with complete label.

Price: $7.50 ( One 5-6 oz bar )Available (Exact): 3
This adorable bar of a goat kid playing in a meadow has a citrus and herbal scent, with my own blend of ginger, lime and lavender essential oils. I hand-milk my goats Sophia, Snowpea, and Elvira, and use the rich milk as well as olive and coconut oils, almond, castor, and avocado oils and shea butter to make this wonderful soap. I don't use Palm oil as many soapmakers do - while it itself is a useful oil, I can't condone the harmful cultivation practices used to produce it, and find I don't need it - this soap is wonderful without it! Soap - Goat Milk, Unscented Fragrance-Free, Tree of Life BarGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $5.00 ( 3.5 oz bar )Available (Estimated): 10
A completely unscented, fragrance-free bar of luxurious goat milk soap, handmade here at Solace Farm Homestead from scratch - I even milk the goats by hand. This soap is ideal for sensitive or allergy-prone skin - chemical fragrances are the #1 allergen in skin care, and I have to say, I was flabbergasted to learn recently that "unscented" commercial soap often uses fragrance to make it smell unscented. This is outrageous, and I surmise it's why you also find the term "fragrance-free" - because "unscented" may not actually be.
This soap is available in either a molded square bar with a Tree of Life etched on the front (this listing), a rectangular molded bar with the word "GOAT MILK" across the front, or a plain square bar (separate listings). I love this stuff! I had been using Mrs. Meyers surface scrub, and discovered this recipe - and it's at least as good! It takes stains and dark scratches right out of my cast-iron kitchen sink, and scrubs the hard water/iron stains out of my tub. Virtually nothing else short of nasty chemicals has done that! And it smells great the whole time it's cleaning :)
